🏡 Shed Base Options

All CoolaLiving timber sheds come with a full load-bearing timber floor, with battens spaced every foot underneath. This means timber sheds can often be installed without a full concrete base, unlike many steel or plastic sheds.

📏 Installing on Level Ground

If your garden area is already level, your shed can sit on:

• 🧱 Concrete blocks, or

• 🪨 Patio paving slabs (400×400mm)

These should be placed generously under the floor battens to support the shed and reduce floor bounce.

💡 Tip: We recommend paving slabs as they sit lower than blocks, giving less of a step into your shed.

🚫 Important: Never place your shed directly on grass, soil, stone, or hardcore.

🌱 Simple Ground Preparation

Most customers prepare their shed base by:

• Laying weed barrier fabric to stop vegetation growth

• Placing patio slabs on top to support the floor bearers

📐 Example: An 8×6 shed typically requires around 10 slabs on level ground.

🌲 What is Incised UC4 Timber?

UC4 (Use Class 4) timber is designed for direct ground contact and outdoor structural use.

Before treatment, the timber is mechanically incised with thousands of small cuts, allowing preservatives to penetrate deeper into the wood. This greatly improves durability and rot resistance.
